Day 24 – First real day in Greece

I wake “early” (8h00 – 7h00 Paris time). Get my stuff ready, eat breakfast and go take a walk on the beach. I finally leave at 9h30.

Breakfast, nuts, seeds and dried fruits thrown inside peanut butter
Another view from the tent

The day will be long today, so I try not to get discouraged and start with a good rythme. Riding in Greece is different, no bike lanes but the drivers are surprisingly patient. Most roads are in quite bad shape and require me to ZigZag to avoid the big holes or bumps. I Keep going until 13h00 with a good rytme but decide it is time to stop for a break. It is getting warm too.

Listen to the story of the Colonels putch in 1967 which transformed Greece in a dictatorship for over 7 years. (Need to write something about this)

Beach at the camping, really paradise
Drying the peppers while eating lunch, I am in the shape but the peppers need to tan

This afternoon, I am looking for a jean or pair of pants lying on the side of the road, I want to make something for the bike with it (suprise for tomorrow’s blog). I ginally find something, I am in a good mood this afternoon, and find a great playlist on spotify. Strong headwind for the last 5km but I know I am close so the day is done at this point.

More trails, across olive trees
Making something for the bike with a jean found on the side of the road.

I spend much of the late afternoon sowing, eating after doing the usual set up of camp. Mark is already at the camping, he started at 6h30 this morning and arrived in the early afternoon. He cooks, but joins me at the restaurant for dessert. We talk more this time, we go deeper in our life stories, 2 dinners with someone is enough to open up when travelling. He goes to bed early, I try, knowing I will see Apolon tomorrow.
