Day 6 – Cheating to keep moving

I am writing this on day 5. While preparing this day, I noticed that I would have to bike 3 days in a row with a strong facing wind. This is why I will try to take a bus tomorrow, I went to the station tonight to check if they accept bikes, it seems ok but communication over Google translate is approximate. The lady at the counter told that there is a bus at 9h10, I will arrive super early to remove the wheels of the bike and buy the ticket. Hopefully it works and I can spend a day or two resting in Belgrade.

I’m waiting and hoping it will work

Waking up this morning, I noticed that my knee pain has not disappeared, and that is worrying. Other than that, I went early to the bus station to dismantle the bike and hope they take me. The ticket told me I needed to see the bus driver, not looking good but we will see.

I am on the bus, paid 23 eur for the bus ticket, should be a 6 hour ride. I had to “bribe” the driver so that he accepted the bike (only 5 eur or 500 in local money). Once on the bus, I am able to rest, even if I am always a bit anxious, knowing my dismantled bike is shaking under me. Hopefully, there is no issue when we arrive.

I believe the knee pain comes from an incorrect adjustment of seat height and clipped pedals. I have to spend some time in Belgrade to figure it out.

Strong winds, as expected

Managed to find a very cute hostel in the center for 35 eur (2 nights). I will be able to rest. Tomorrow, I am meeting a bike fitter to help me make the bike better.

Bike in great shape after the bus ride
